The unique multimedia space of the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics of the Czech Technical University in Prague

The Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics (CIIRC ČVUT) is a modern research institute of the Czech Technical University in Prague, which brings together excellent research teams, young talents and unique know-how with the aim of pushing scientific and technological boundaries.

Together with other partners, he is building an international RICAIP center focused on advanced industrial production. Thanks to this, in the last three years, he has equipped an experimental laboratory, the so-called Testbed for Industry 4.0, with state-of-the-art technologies.

In order to connect international research teams, demonstrate innovative procedures and interactively present new technologies and their applications, the researchers came up with the idea of supplementing the otherwise purely research environment with a completely unique multimedia room. to be able to display and visually connect information from remote testbeds, as well as local machines and robotic stations, change the arrangement of the displayed audiovisual content, record it, sort it and further share it. Such an arrangement and functions can be compared to a modern control room in factories, whose operation and technology are faithfully simulated in the testbed for research and development purposes. A space was created that has versatile uses both for the modern coordination of research teams, technologies and machines, as well as for organizing educational, professional and popularization events and workshops.

The center of the entire space is a projection onto a curved semicircular canvas. Or blending onto a collapsed cylindrical surface using three Panasonic projectors with ultra-wide lenses to eliminate the shadows of the presenters. The projection surface can be used in several set display modes. In the special podium, connection points are embedded for better comfort of the presenters.

The CUE control system with a touch panel ensures user-friendly and intuitive control not only of all AV technology, but also of lighting and electric shading of the room.

NDI signal distribution is used here without matrices and with the support of Barco video management and AV processor, which allows video devices within a computer network to share a high-resolution video signal with each other. This is very high quality communication and transmission.

In the room, there are two rotating motorized (PTZ) cameras remotely controlled from the control desk used for live transmission from the hall, recording and the Microsoft Teams tool for videoconferencing purposes. The movement of the camera is controlled electronically according to the conditions set in advance by the administrator, so that the presenter is always in the ideal shot, even if he is moving in a defined preset area during the lecture. Thanks to the video conference and recording system, it is possible to carry out e.g. transmission anywhere in the Czech Republic, abroad or as a form of distance education.

In accordance with current technical trends, fully digital AV sound distribution was used in the room. Control of sound and digital lights is connected to two mixing desks located in the director's room. They make it possible, for example, to easily adjust the intensity of the lighting in the hall or to change the color of the lighting of the central column according to the current situation.

Part of the overhead and control panel is also a connection to the Digital Signage system, or information system, which consists of flat LCD screens located within the premises of Testbed 4.0, and serves to display information from the university system.
