3D broadcasting during the 61st-annual ČUS Conference
Live 3D broadcasts of surgical procedures were part of the 61st -annual Czech Urological Society conference. AV MEDIA provided the complete technology for the broadcast.
The surgical procedures were transmitted from the Urological Clinic at FN Plzeň (a university hospital) and the Urological Clinic and Robot-Assisted Surgery at Masaryk Hospital in Ústí nad Labem to the conference venue - the Clarion Congress Hotel in Olomouc.
Unique 3D surgical procedures
More than 300 specialists in the congress hall in Olomouc had the same viewpoint as the operating surgeon, by using 3D glasses. Two-way communication was arranged so that surgeons in the hall could put questions to the operating surgeon in real time.
A 3D laparoscopic surgery was carried out at the hospital in Plzen using technology from Olympus. In Ústí nad Labem, there was a 3D surgery using the daVinci Xi robotic system that simulates the movements of human hands inside the patient. A doctor sitting at the control console could see the surgical field using a stereoscopic imaging channel, using a joystick to control the instruments in the hands of the robot.
AV MEDIA provided the broadcasting of the live 3D surgical procedures using their own FULL HD technology, thanks to which the final picture and sound were shared with more than 300 participants while maintaining the very high quality. Keeping the synchronization between the left and right eyes was challenging, as was ensuring communication between both locations without delays to the broadcasting.
Cesnet was a partner of the broadcast, which provided the connection between the regional hospital and the congress hall in Olomouc.
