On Friday 1st May, the big hockey feast will commence in the Prague’s O2 Arena. Though the Czech league play-offs are finishing, the regards of hockey devotees are slowly turning towards the world championship taking place in Prague and Ostrava.
A lot of attention is paid to the opening ceremony. “We wish that it narrates about the Czech Republic. It should connect our visuals and mascots. We want it to induce a world championship atmosphere that is enjoyable for the spectators,” says the Organizational Board Manager Markéta Štěrbová.
The opening ceremony is scheduled before the first match to be contested on Friday 1st May at 20:15 between the Czech and Swedish teams. The opening ceremony should take 15 minutes and, besides the official speeches by René Fasel, the President of the International Ice Hockey Federation, and Tomáš Král, the President of the Czech Ice Hockey Association, also the official mascots – Bob & Bobek – the Rabbits from the Hat – should take part in it.
